Dictionary of Data and Interoperable Operation Properties of E-Health

​The health data dictionary is the cornerstone in the e-health structure as it defines medical terminologies in a standard manner that ensures description reliability and non-difference in explaining data elements which facilitates various e-health applications.

The interoperable operation guide defines protocols used in exchanging health data among facilities of the health sector and unifies data properties from technical aspect. All concerned entities in the health sector at the Kingdom are committed to the following criteria and standards.

  • Operational Standard: this standard shall be unified to apply governmental electronic transaction including shard data standards technical standards and procedures for data exchange among government entities.
  • The Saudi Health Data Dictionary: this includes a unified and standard definition of all terms (data elements) used in health sector and determining their standard characteristics and values. It also includes connection using medical and clinical coding.
  • The Interoperable Operation Properties Guide:
     It consists of:
    • The e-Health Exchange Policy
    • Use case profiles.
    • Interoperable operation properties for use cases​​
